The Rubik's Cube has 3 types of pieces, each with unique characteristics and specific positions. Knowing these pieces is fundamental to understanding solution methods.
Centers
6 fixed pieces that define the color of each face. They cannot be moved from their position.
Edges
12 pieces with 2 colors. They can only be positioned between centers.
Corners
8 pieces with 3 colors, located at the vertices of the cube.
